16 Purple Going to Reno

16 Purple Earns an American bid to Nationals

Sunday, May 2nd is a day this group of feisty girls won't soon forget. After finishing a respectable 18th at the Northern Light's Qualifier the weekend before, they had their eye on the prize at the Badger Qualifier.  A strong start beating the FC Elite helped to get the girls pumped to take on their rivals, West Allis Lightening.  Though they fought hard, they went down in 3, losing 15-13 in the third. An all too familiar score in this match up.  However the girls were still in the hunt; they just had to take the long road for a bid.  With a few more matches ahead of them to win, they psyched themselves up with written reminders of their goal and a hearty lunch.  They also kept their coaches looking handsome in puffy painted shirts and funny hats.  It came down to having play FC Elite again.  A win earns them a bid to the USA Volleyball National Championship and loss sends them home.  Low and behold, 16 Purple pulled it off in two, winning the second set 25-16!  Congrats to this group of silly girls ~ we couldn't be more proud.  Reno Bear agrees.
